Bedugul is a popular highland resort area in north-central Bali. This cool, forested upland neighbourhood is home to one of the island’s three mountain lakes, Beratan, where the iconic Ulun Danu Beratan temple stands on its western bank. Bedugul is on the central island route that leads you to the town of Singaraja and the popular beach resort of Lovina. It's often included on tours to North Bali. Nonetheless, Bedugul is a popular holidaying and weekend destination on its own, offering cooler retreats with beautiful nature views. The whole area makes a nice break from the sandy coasts. There are plenty of hotels in Bedugul, too.

Highlights of Bedugul in Bali
At around 1,500 meters above sea level, the Bedugul highlands has a pleasantly cool climate. It covers four main villages – Candikuning, Pancasari, Pacung and Wanagiri – all of which are farming communities that produce much of the fresh fruits, vegetables and spices distributed to traditional and modern markets (as well as hotels and restaurants) all over Bali. The lakeside slopes around Beratan, including the neighbouring lakes of Buyan and Tamblingan, are home to strawberry farms, some welcoming you to pick your own strawberries from around IDR 50,000 (USD 4) per kilogram. You may find all of the fresh produce, as well as flowers, local snacks and craft items sold at the bustling farmers markets of Candikuning and Pancasari.
Other main attractions in Bedugul include the Eka Karya Bali Botanic Garden, which covers a total area of 157.5 hectares with ponds and water gardens, leafy pathways, different greenhouses and orchards. Inside the botanic garden is the Bali Treetop Adventure Park, where you and your family can get a good dose of adrenaline rush through its six tree circuits of extensive Flying Fox ziplines, rope bridges and Tarzan swings that stretch from tree to tree. Accommodation facilities are available within the botanic garden grounds for those who would like to spend the night here (it can get very chilly, though). For a great golfing stay with world-class facilities, there’s the beautiful Handara Golf & Resort in Pancasari, adjacent the fresh market and just north of Beratan Lake.
